## Short Answer

Jaguar’s recent range had saloons (XE, XF, XJ), sports cars (XK, F-TYPE) and SUVs (E-PACE, F-PACE, I-PACE), with R, SVR and SV badges for the fastest versions. That range is being replaced: the XJ ended in 2019, the XE, XF and F-TYPE in 2024, and Jaguar called a 2024 edition the final F-PACE. The next Jaguar is the electric Type 01, with orders expected from early 2027. Codes such as X350 identify a generation.

## How is the Jaguar range changing?

In 2024 Jaguar listed its range as the I-PACE all-electric SUV, the F-PACE and compact E-PACE SUVs, the XE and XF saloons, the XF Sportbrake estate and the F-TYPE sports car. Since then the combustion range has been winding down: F-TYPE production ended at Castle Bromwich in 2024, with the car available until early 2025, the last XE, XF and XF Sportbrake had already been built, and Jaguar described the F-PACE 90th Anniversary Edition as the final F-PACE model. The first car of the new range is the Type 01, a four-door electric GT revealed on 7 October 2026, with orders expected to open in early 2027. Which models are still available new depends on the market, so check with the authorised Jaguar retailer.

## How do Jaguar model names work?

Jaguar has used several naming patterns. Early numbers described the car: the SS100’s name suggested its 100mph top speed, the XK120 had a 120mph top speed, and the XJ6 was named for its six cylinders, with the XJ12 as its twelve-cylinder version. Later saloons and sports cars kept the X letters: XE, XF and XJ for saloons, XK for sports cars. From 2015 the SUVs took the PACE name: F-PACE, E-PACE and I-PACE. The newest name follows a different logic: Jaguar says ‘Type’ in Type 01 nods to its iconic predecessors, ‘0’ stands for zero tailpipe emissions and ‘1’ marks the first of a new generation.

## Which model families has Jaguar built?

The XJ was Jaguar’s flagship saloon from 1968 to 2019, over eight generations. The S-TYPE (1998 to 2007) and the XF, which replaced it in 2007, were its executive saloons, and the X-TYPE (2001 to 2009) and the XE, announced in 2014, its compact saloons. The sports cars ran from the XJ-S (1975 to 1996) to the XK8 (1996 to 2005), the XK (2005 to 2014) and the F-TYPE (2013 to 2024). The SUVs began with the F-PACE in 2015, followed by the E-PACE in 2017 and the all-electric I-PACE in 2018. Estates were rarer: the X-TYPE Estate of 2003 and the XF Sportbrake for the 2012 model year.

## What do codes such as X100, X350 or X351 mean?

They are Jaguar’s internal project codes, and they separate generations that share a model name. The XK8 was X100 and the XK that replaced it in 2005 was X150. The S-TYPE was X200, the first XF was X250 and the X-TYPE was X400. The XJ went through X300 (1994), X308 (1997), X350, the seventh generation with an aluminium body from 2002, and X351, the eighth generation from 2010. When buying parts or comparing two cars with the same name, the generation code is a clearer guide than the model year.

## What do R, R-S and R-Dynamic mean?

R marks Jaguar’s performance models. The name came from the XJR racing cars of 1983 onwards, and in 1988 Jaguar set up JaguarSport with TWR to build R-badged road cars, starting with the XJR-S. The XJR of 1994 was the first supercharged R car, and later R models such as the XKR and XFR followed. R-S, introduced on the XKR-S in 2011, sits above R. R-Dynamic is a different name: on the final F-PACE 90th Anniversary Edition, for example, it is the variant the car is based on, offered in S, SE and HSE specifications. Always check the full model name of the car itself.

## Where do SV, SVR and Special Vehicle Operations fit?

Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) is the JLR division that develops Jaguar’s most extreme versions, and its badges stay under the Jaguar name rather than forming a separate brand. The F-TYPE SVR of 2016 was the first Jaguar to wear the SVR badge and the first series-production Jaguar developed by SVO, sitting above the F-TYPE, F-TYPE S and F-TYPE R. The F-PACE SVR followed in 2018, and the 575PS SVR 575 Edition of 2023 became the most powerful F-PACE. SV also appears in limited models such as the XE SV Project 8.

---

## Which Jaguar models have been discontinued?

Several famous names have ended. XJ production finished on 5 July 2019, and in 2021 JLR confirmed that the planned XJ replacement would not be part of the line-up. The XK ended in 2014, the S-TYPE in 2007 and the X-TYPE in 2009. In 2024 the XE, XF, XF Sportbrake and F-TYPE finished production, and Jaguar marked the final F-PACE model. Otto could not confirm from Jaguar’s releases whether the E-PACE and I-PACE are still in production.

---

## Are Jaguar models the same in Oman and the Gulf?

Otto has not been able to confirm Gulf or Oman versions or specifications from Jaguar documentation. Jaguar’s official Oman website, published under Jaguar Land Rover, names Mohsin Haider Darwish LLC for Oman and lists a showroom and a service centre in Muscat and a service centre in Salalah. In October 2026 it carried model pages for the F-PACE, E-PACE, I-PACE and F-TYPE, with the F-PACE page showing the SVR 575 Edition and R-DYNAMIC S, SE and HSE 90th Anniversary Editions, and it presented the Type 01 as coming soon. The site itself says its specifications are based on European specification and may vary from market to market. Check the exact specification of a car with the authorised Jaguar retailer, and have an imported or used car checked in a [pre-purchase inspection](https://autotronix.om/otto/pre-purchase-inspection).

**What was the first Jaguar SVR?**
The F-TYPE SVR of 2016, the first series-production Jaguar developed by Special Vehicle Operations.
