## Short Answer

Maserati’s current range has three road families: the Grecale SUV, the GranTurismo coupé with its open GranCabrio sister, and the super sports cars, the MCPURA with its Cielo convertible and the GT2 Stradale. Folgore marks the fully electric versions and Trofeo the most powerful ones. The Quattroporte has ended, the Ghibli is listed among Maserati’s legacy cars and the Levante is not in the range Maserati lists today.

---

## How is Maserati’s current range organised?

On 24 October 2026 Maserati’s Oman website grouped its cars as an SUV, the Grecale; sports cars, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio; and super sports cars, the MCPURA and GT2 Stradale, with separate menus for track-only cars and the full-electric range. Maserati’s own description of the range adds the MCPURA Cielo convertible and the MCXtrema, a track-only car limited to 62 units.

## What is the Grecale range?

The Grecale is Maserati’s luxury SUV, presented in 2022, developed in Modena and built at Cassino. At launch it came as GT, Modena and Trofeo, with four-cylinder mild-hybrid engines of 300 and 330 hp and a 530-hp V6 based on the Nettuno, followed by the electric Folgore. Its 2026 range has six versions: Grecale, Modena, Grecale V6, Modena V6, Trofeo V6 and Folgore, from a 250-hp mild hybrid to the 550-hp electric Folgore. The GT name used at launch does not appear in that list.

## How do the GranTurismo and GranCabrio fit together?

The GranTurismo is a four-seat coupé and the GranCabrio its open-top sister. The line began with the GranTurismo of 2007 and the GranCabrio of 2009, and the current generation arrived in 2022 for the GranTurismo and 2023 for the GranCabrio. In 2026 each comes in three versions, a 490-hp model, the 590-hp Trofeo and the 760-hp electric Folgore, all with all-wheel drive, and Maserati calls the GranCabrio Folgore the first fully electric cabriolet in its segment. Production returned to Modena from the fourth quarter of 2025.

---

## What are the MCPURA and the GT2 Stradale?

They are Maserati’s super sports cars. The MC20, presented in 2020, began this line, and in 2025 it evolved into the MCPURA, offered as a coupé and as the MCPURA Cielo convertible. The GT2 Stradale is the road version of Maserati’s GT2 racing car, and the MCXtrema is a track-only car. The MCPURA and GT2 Stradale are built at Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena, where the Nettuno engine is also made.

## What do Folgore, Trofeo and Modena mean?

Folgore, Italian for lightning, is the name of Maserati’s fully electric line: the GranTurismo Folgore was the first fully electric Maserati and the Grecale Folgore its first electric SUV. Trofeo marks the most powerful version of a model, such as the 590-hp GranTurismo Trofeo or the 530-hp Grecale Trofeo V6. On the Grecale, Modena is the step between the entry version and the Trofeo; Otto found no official explanation of the name. How electric and hybrid drives compare is explained in Otto’s guide to [hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric cars](https://autotronix.om/otto/hybrid-vs-plug-in-hybrid-vs-electric).

---

## What do MC, Q4, Cielo and Ultima mean?

MC is Maserati Corse, Maserati’s racing name: the MC12 was the Maserati Corse 12-cylinder, the MC20 Maserati Corse 2020, and in 2019 the GranTurismo was built in MC and Sport trims. Q4 is Maserati’s name for its intelligent all-wheel-drive system, used on the Levante and the Quattroporte Q4. Cielo is the name of the MCPURA convertible. The Ultima editions of 2023 marked the end of the V8, and the 334 in Ghibli 334 Ultima is its top speed in km/h. Earlier trim names include GranLusso and GranSport, offered on the Ghibli Hybrid of 2020.

---

## Where do Maserati’s model names come from?

Many are winds. Maserati says the Levante, its first SUV, followed many earlier Maseratis in taking its name from a wind, a warm Mediterranean one, and the Ghibli, the Khamsin and the Shamal are named after desert and regional winds. Quattroporte is Italian for “four doors”, the A6 combined A for Alfieri with its six cylinders, and the 250F took its name from 2.5 litres and Formula. The Indy honoured the Indianapolis 500 wins of 1939 and 1940, and the Mexico was named because its 5000 GT prototype had belonged to the Mexican president Adolfo López Mateos.

---

## Which Maserati models have been discontinued?

The Quattroporte, Maserati’s saloon since 1963, ended after six generations, and the last one, the Quattroporte Grand Finale delivered on 31 July 2024, was also Maserati’s final V8 model. The Ghibli saloon of 2013 now sits under ‘Legacy cars’ on Maserati’s international website, and the Levante of 2016 is not part of the range Maserati lists today. Earlier lines include the Biturbo family, which began in 1981, the 3200 GT of 1998, and the Spyder and Coupé of 2001 and 2002, which replaced it.

---

## How do Maserati generations and codes work?

Maserati numbers its Quattroporte generations with Roman numerals, from the Quattroporte I of 1963 to the Quattroporte VI, the first car built at Grugliasco. Its heritage pages also give each model a type code: Tipo AM101 for the 3500 GT, Tipo AM107 for the first Quattroporte, Tipo AM115 for the 1967 Ghibli, Tipo AM331 for the Biturbo, M138 for the 2001 Spyder and 2002 Coupé, M139 for the fifth Quattroporte and M144 for the MC12. Generations could change character completely: the Citroën-era Quattroporte II shared the Citroën SM’s engineering and had front-wheel drive, before the Quattroporte III returned to a Maserati V8 and rear-wheel drive.

---

## Where do Fuoriserie, Classiche and Corse fit?

They are programmes rather than models. Maserati Fuoriserie is the customisation programme, part of BOTTEGAFUORISERIE since the end of 2025; Maserati Classiche looks after the company’s heritage, alongside its historical archive; and Maserati Corse runs its racing, including the GT2 racing car with which Maserati returned to covered-wheel championships.

## Are Maserati models different in Oman and the Gulf?

Some differences are visible on Maserati’s own websites. On 24 October 2026 the Oman site listed four Grecale versions, Grecale, Modena, Trofeo and Folgore, while Maserati’s international and Kuwait sites also listed a Grecale Modena V6, and quoted figures differed: the entry Grecale’s 0-100 km/h time was 6.3 seconds on the Oman site and 5.6 seconds on the international site. The Oman site offers the GranTurismo as full-electric or Nettuno-powered. Maserati’s Oman website names Alfardan Motors as its official dealer in Oman, recognised as the exclusive importer, with a showroom in Al Azaiba and a service centre in Ghala, Muscat. The Gulf has a long link with the marque: every Quattroporte II was sold to customers in the Middle East. Otto found no official list of GCC-specific specifications, so check the exact specification, equipment and availability of a car with the authorised Maserati dealer. Yes. Maserati’s electric line is called Folgore, and in 2026 it includes the GranTurismo Folgore, the GranCabrio Folgore and the Grecale Folgore.

**Does Maserati still make the Quattroporte?**
No. The last Quattroporte, the Quattroporte Grand Finale, was delivered on 31 July 2024, ending a line that ran to six generations.
